On the air
Four things that happen while you talk: how far your voice carries, what happens when two people talk at once, a stuck talk key, and the battery.
Whisper and yell
Press G to go from normal to whisper to yell and back. A whisper carries about 15 studs, a yell about 120, against 60 for a normal voice. A small word at the bottom of the screen says WHISPERING or YELLING while you're not on normal. It changes your voice out loud, not your radio.
Two people at once
When two people key up on the same net at the same moment, only the stronger is heard, as on a real FM radio. The radio tells you who you were doubled with, so you know to say it again.
A stuck talk key
After 30 seconds of talking without a break, a line at the top right warns you and counts down. At 60 seconds the radio stops transmitting. Let go of the key and press it again to talk. This stops one stuck key from blocking a whole net.
Battery
Off in a new game. When the game owner turns it on, a radio drains while it's switched on, and faster while you talk. At 15% a BATTERY LOW line shows. To get a fresh battery, put the radio back at an armoury crate and take it again.
